 Before Sherbert Productions I knew very little about Japanese Animation, just that my hubby (Johnny Zed, a.k.a. Muffy) went to the Anime room at conventions; in fact, he spent quite a lot of time there! I first heard about Sherbert Productions when a friend of mine (Phillip Sral) asked me if I could do a voice for them; this was for Dirty Pair: The Arrest of Mr. Macek. I was hooked and have been doing voice-overs ever since. I do not think that I have missed any of the projects done to date. I have on two occasions helped with Foley (sound effects). I am always looking forward to the next project and will continue to do them so long as they remain a fun way to unwind or until Sherbert no longer produces any more parodies. Whether the part is large or small, I enjoy doing them all!!! |

I am responsible for the video and audio editing of Sherbert Productions. I've also been solely responsible for choosing all of the music for each production mainly because no one else wanted the job. I've written four Sherbert scripts on my own, co-authored one, and will start a new script in 1997. I wrote Urusei Yatsura: Attack Sherbert, Iczer-C: The Untold Story, Ranma 1/2: Summer Vacation, and Ranma 69. I co-authored our two Gatchaman parodies with Phillip Sral. Alexandria Kadar (Ranma 1/2: Summer Vacation) is Ursula von Wasserturm's (Ranma 69) evil twin sister. They got into this fan-dubbing thing because somebody said it would be fun. Now, they are chained to a microphone stand in Phillip Sral's damp and poorly-lit basement, and are whipped by Corellian Jones to do cutesy voices. SEND FOOD! |

I've been a fan of Japanese Animation since 1978 when I first saw the T.V. movie Space Cruiser Yamato on KTLA (Channel 5) in Los Angeles. Over the years, I've managed to amass a sizable collection of Japanese Animated video tapes and laser discs. In 1989, my participation in Japanese Anime fandom was forever changed. It was in that year that I and three other individuals co-founded the Fan Parody Dubbing group which became known as Sherbert Productions. Since that time, I've spent much of my free time doing Sherbert projects, and going around to various Japanese Animation and Science Fiction conventions to display the fruits of our labor to audiences. Overall, the response has been positive enough to keep us going to the present day. After lurking about the Internet for a year, I thought it would be a good idea to get some experience with HTML. Thus, in January 1996, I designed and put up this World Wide Web site. In addition to being a Webmaster and voice actor, I'm also the Production Coordinator for Sherbert Productions. My duties in this role include scheduling the voice over scenes to be done for each dubbing session, and getting the required voice actors to show up. During each production I also maintain a log of which scenes have been completed. If I somehow missed a voice over scene, it would be quite embarrassing when we got to the Post-Production stage of a project. My writing credits include Dirty Pair: The Arrest of Mr. Macek, Dirty Pair II: The Dirty Pair does Disneyland, and did the English language adaptation of our one and only straight translation, Bubblegum Crisis 5: Moonlight Rambler. I also co-wrote our two Ninja Team Gatchaman parodies with Corellian Jones In the real world I program computers for a living, so for me Sherbert Productions has provided a much needed, and very welcome diversion. |

Seems I was always using "funny voices" to augment my sometimes bizarre humor, and thought it would be fun to participate in a project utilizing this rather dubious skill. (Translation: I saw that the people at Sherbert were having lots of fun, and figured I'd stick my nose in, add my two cents worth, and glean some of the glory.) When not cooped up in a dark screening room for Sherbert, I spend my time fishing for kittens (of course, the small ones are tossed back to ensure future propagation of the species), torturing small bushes and plants (the only green thumb I have is the one I accidentally painted), and pretending I'm a doctor (when I can get away from the guys in the white coats). |

I came to be involved in Sherbert's parodies because my wife, B-KO, was involved with them; being friends with the principals for several years probably had something to do with it as well. Over the years, I have acted in most of Sherbert's parodies, skipping some notables that I did not personally care for. I got a chance to be a woman or woman-like thing more than once, which was not necessarily great, but was interesting. In at least one production, I was known as Muffy, so if you look elsewhere in this page for a separate bio on Muffy and cannot find her, the ugly truth is that it's Johnny Zed in Snow White drag, scraggly beard and all. Incidentally, the above mug shot looks nothing like me, except maybe for those blue dog eyes...but that's another story. I don't know why I let Phillip Sral and Corellian Jones talk me into doing these things, but I just know I end up in them. Sometimes I get itty-bity parts (my most memorable itty-bitties were the "buzz" of the Attack Sherbert and one of the vocally-distorted boomers in Bubblegum Crisis 5) and sometimes I end up as the freak of the show (that's me being the cross-dressing Ricky Ricardo/Evita clone called Zoltar in the Gatchaman parodies). All I know is that I have often walked into the dubbing studio, with no intention of doing anything at all other than being a critical butt who complained about every other line, and I threw out some stupid voice or comment that ended up being part of the script. Go figure. What I gotta do is keep my mouth shut...that's what I gotta do...until then, who knows. |
